Platform for the Needy (PLANE), in partnership with Kabarole District staff, have donated an assortment of food items and other essentials to the needy children at Tooro Babies Home, with a call on members of the public to ensure responsible parenting.
The donated items included rice, sugar, maize flour, pampers, sodas loaves of bread, Irish potatoes among others.
On Tuesday evening, Dec. 21, 2021, the items were delivered to the home by the Kabarole staff, led by district chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga, CAO Mr. Katontoroma John, a section of district councilors and PLANE director Steven Waddell.
Rwabuhinga called on people to use the available birth control methods to avoid getting unwanted pregnancies that could lead to child neglect and abandonment. Rwabuhinga asked people to observe responsible parenting, and only produce children they can manage to look after.
Waddell called on the people to always extend a helping hand, in particular to vulnerable children during the festive season.
Mrs. Kemigisa Betty Kisaija, the matron of Tooro Babies Home, commended the institutions for being generous and always supporting the home. She said the home, with 50 children, survives on the mercy of local support and appealed to the public to always come to their rescue.
