PLANE & Rwenzori Diocese Donate To Needy Family

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) and Voice of Tooro and Rwenzori diocese with their friends Tooro American Association to donate an assortment of items to the needy family of Kato Samuel who has been bedridden after sustaining a head injury in a motor accident.

The items delivered include soap, sugar, salt, posho, cooking oil, bread, fruits, and scholastic materials (exercise books, school bags, shoes, toilet papers) for Murungi Derrick, aged 13, and Daphne Kembabazi, aged 10.

Led by Waddell Steven, the Executive Director PLANE, and Rev. Sarah Kakyo of Rwenzori Diocese, the team paid fees and lunch for Murungi Derrick and Daphne for three years until he completed primary school at form seven.

Rev.Kakyo promised to continue working closely with PLANE and also mobilization, looking for a doctor to conduct an assessment of Kato Samuel’s health if he needs further treatment or surgery at Kilembe Hospital or Mbarara.

Waddell Steven appreciated VOT listeners and Tooro American Association for the generous response to support Kato and his children who were in urgent need of support. He advised the children to concentrate on education, despite the challenges adding that any time God will respond to their cry.

Sanusu Hamidu, the Head Master of Bukwali Primary school, Fort Portal City, where these children go, thanked VOT, PLANE, Rwenzori diocese, and Tooro American members for responding to the plight of such needy children by providing scholastic materials, fees, and lunch.

He said that it is not rare to see people responding to the needs of the vulnerable, especially when the country is facing an economic crisis.

Kato Samuel, aged 46 and a father of three, is suffering from epilepsy and was involved in a motor accident four months ago. His wife, Basemera Angella, abandoned them after seeing that the man was in bad condition.Kato who hails from Makondo  kasongira Rwebisengo in Ntoroko district is appealing for support towards helping in the education of his children and also seed capital for his 16 year old son kasaija Daniel who has stopped schooling to look after his sick father.

He believes that if he starts a small business he can help provide something to eat for the family.

He needs about shs3;000;000 to help his son start a small business that will help generate income to pay rent, buy food, and pay fees for children and ensure the sustainability of the family.
