Over 557 People Treated In Medical Camp

Over 557 people from the remote rural sub county of Kasenda, Kabarole
district have received treatment and tested for HIV during a free
medical camp.
The medical camp was organized by Rotaract club of Kabarole in
partnership with, Kabarole district office of the District health
officer (DHO) PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) and YAWE Foundation.
The people were tested for HIV AIDS, screened for cervical cancer,
tested for high blood pressure and diabetes and treated for the common
diseases. They supplied condoms to the locals.Other activities
included blood donation and drama on EVIL HUSBAND and HIV and it was
performed by BAHEMUKA DRAMA of PLANE.
The function was held at Rwankenzi Catholic Church in Rwangenzi
parish, Kasenda Sub County on Sunday 22nd February.
Tinka Katukahirwa Rotaract President Kabarole said the rural Women
have been dying silently of cervical cancer and they did not know
their HIV status because of the remoteness of the area and failure to
access health services.
Tinka asked other organizations operating in the region to emulate
them and extend such services to people in hard to reach areas.
Kemigisa Febronia a medical worker said that such services will be
organized for the people who cannot access health services.
Mr.Ainganiza Steven Waddell the Director PLATFORM for the NEEDY
(PLANE) warned the locals against domestic violence that leads to
separation and spread of HIV AIDS.
He asked them to always listen to BAHEMU DRAMA that talks about
social, economic life so as to avoid being victims of domestic
violence.
Mr.Ainganiza said that many children especially the girl child have
dropped out of school and others married off at a tender age as a
result of domestic violence.
