Fort portal High Court has sentenced a 71 year old man identified as
Murogowabo William to 17 and half years to Katojo Government Prison on
charges of aggravated defilement.
Court on Wednesday 4th 2015 presided over by Justice Okwanga Vincent
heard that on 7th October 2011, Murogowabo William alias Chameleon a
resident of Kakooga village, Kacwamba parish, Karugutu Town Council
Ntoroko district allegedly defiled a 7 year old girl when her
grandmother was away from home.
Prosecution told court that on 07/10/2011 Murogowabo forced the young
girl into acts of sex intercourse and defiled her.
According to the senior clinical officer at Karugutu health center
111in Ntoroko, a medical report indicated that the girl had a raptured
hymen.
But because of the evidence provided to court, Justice Okwang Vincent
sentenced him to 17 and half years at Katojo government prison as a
deterrent to other men with such evil spirits.
The same court has sentenced Mukonyezi Abdul Ibrahim 35 a resident of
Majumba village in Ntoroko district to serve 25 years in prison on two
accounts of rape and defilement.
It is said that on 2nd July 2012 at around 5:00am the accused person
met Marunga Rose 24 and Kusemererwa Karungi 16 at Rwebisengo trading
centre when they were coming from the church and threatened to take
them to the barracks and be subjected to severe torture if they
refuse to enter his house.
Because of the fear, the duo entered in Mukonyenzi’s house where he
forced them into sexual intercourse.
The presiding judge warned that cases of defilement and rape were on
the rise in Rwenzori region and said the arm of the law would catch
them.
